Most reservations are gun free for us. No problem traveling on the state and federal roads, but look out on tribal lands. If busted, you will face trial in their court systems, and you have no rights....

The general rule of thumb for anything on the reservation is "you are black and the year is 1948".

DO NOT bring firearms onto tribal land, of any kind. You have no rights at all.

This is a great time of year for fishing the Black River. I haven't been there for years, but last time I was catching 50-60 small mouth bass per day. They like small crawfish lures and 1"-2" neon green grub worms. There are also pretty good sized catfish, too.

The bears are VERY smart. They will break into your car if they see a cooler or smell food. Be careful.

If you have a hunting license for the reservation the appropriate gun is ok. As others said no is the word on firearms.
Bear spray is not a bad idea. When keeping fish I filet them and leave the carcasses in a pile on the shore then proceed to camp. Figure the bears might find the pile before me.

No guns unless it is hunting season , you have a license and pay all the fees. They add up.
It's not cheap to hunt the reservation.
No atv's either.
Don't forget to buy your fishing license from the tribe.

Off topic, but I’m curious. If you’re convicted of a crime on the res, where do they imprison you?

Typically, criminal penalties on the res that reach the level of felony are handled by the feds. So if you do a crime serious enough there, you'll be in a federal pen.

Crimes are handled by the tribal police unless a felony is involved.
Then it goes to the US Attorneys office and then the feds prosecute.

Contact the tribes. Many will issue a ccw permit as it is money in their pockets. Over the years when I did a lot of photography I had multiple CCW permits with different tribes. Never had a issue with tribal police with the permits and the firearms.
