How often are you actually getting trigger time?
I was having a chat w a buddy today and the question came up….how often should you be training vs how often you are actually able to get out and pew?
I really don’t even know how much is necessary.
In my past life we would do quals yearly, other times we went once a month. It just depended on the command and the mission.
Now that it’s all on me I try to get out as much as possible but I’m sure I should be doing it more often.
So, how often do you get out and pew?

Re: How often are you actually getting trigger time?
Back in the day, I used to shoot the weekly matches at Ben Avery and then a monthly up in Prescott at Granite Dells. I was burning through about 800 rounds a month doing that and loved every bit of it (except the cost, of course).
Maybe one day I'll get back to that level of activity.

On average, six times a month.

Weekly or bi-weekly when I am at my Arizona place.
Belonging to a range/club 15 minutes away is heaven.
Here in this 3rd world democrat occupied territory, hardly ever without a long drive to a patch of dirt.

Daily. Depending on what I'm doing, 100 to 200 a day. Yes, there are days when I just don't feel like shooting and there are days when I'm preparing for a match or a class that I'll shoot a bit more doing drills.

We have a number of matches going on at our range in Kingman, so I shoot 5-6 a month. Mostly centerfire handgun, a 3 gun match and a rimfire match.

Re: How often are you actually getting trigger time?
I want to shoot more often - but life, workload, and economic realities (along with perhaps a bit of laziness - if I'm being totally honest) have me getting out about once a month. Maybe a bit more in the winter, and a bit less in the summer when I have a harder time deciding to drag stuff out of the cabinet to set up steel and know that I'm going to have to tear it all down in 110 degree heat unless I make it a 60 minute session. My daydream about acquiring a property elsewhere where I can set up a little range of my own and leave it up is getting closer to reality. When that happens, I like to think I'll shoot a few times a week.

Open a window near the reloading bench that presents the range.
One day.
Hopefully.

Re: How often are you actually getting trigger time?
For years for me it was at least twice a week, now maybe once a month if that, lost the drive to load ammo in my garage.
