I bought a rifle from a cop once at his police station. Pulled out my CCW card and he didn't know what I was showing him. He asked for my drivers license and took that and the CCW to his sergeant to ask what he should do. Fortunately, there was no shoot out during that sale. But I think the sergeant got a chuckle.

So how does this Safe Zone at Gilbert Police work? In my experience, a non police person bringing a handgun or rifle into a police station would result in some quick reaction by the first officer that saw you.

No familiarity with the one in Gilbert, but usually they are just well lit open spaces next to the police station.
