What's up with all the 870s for sale?

#1

Post by BigNate »

I just looked in the shotgun classifieds and 5 of the top 9 posts are for 870s... Did I miss something? Is there some sort of fire-sale on 870s? Did the world determine that they should all be scrapped?

There's a lot of LE trade-in 870's floating around because a lot of depts are going with AR's. That trickles down to our local fat gun guys as well 😆

Ahhhhh - that would make sense... and the transition very much could create a bit of a glut over a long period of time.

I don't do much with shotguns - but about a year ago I bought a 870 Wingmaster Magnum that sort of fell in my lap. I'm right side up in it (and it is probably going to be a keeper) - but when I saw more than 50% of the immediate inventory in that forum being 870s - it made me wonder...

Yeah, there have been a LOT of trade-ins, been debating whether I need more 870's than I already got.

I've got more than enough pump shotguns, don't need an 870, or even want one. Now, an old Ithaca slam fire, I'm down for one of those.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

870's are excellent shotguns ( the older ones ) .
Personally I think Remington went down hill when they came out with the Express model.
I have hunted more with an 870 than any other shotgun.
I even used them for trap and skeet once in awhile.

I had two and issues with both caused me to get rid of them, I believe one was an express and the other was not.

I kinda want to try one again as I believe they should be good to go like everyone says.

I want an 870 but the ones for sale on the forum are all down in the Valley or even further. I'm in Prescott. I'm not going to drive two hours for an 870.

Word on the street is that the new 870s' quality is better than ever! This coming from a Remington armorer with butt loads of experience with them.
