Our mole at ATF just got convicted

Considering how ultra rare it is to have someone on the inside, this is a gut-wrenching tragedy.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigator based in West Michigan has agreed to plead guilty to passing along sensitive information to a guns rights activist, court records show.

Christodoulos Santafianos has agreed to plead guilty to theft or conversion of a government record. He faces up to a year in prison and up to a $100,000 fine. As part of the plea agreement, Santafianos must also resign from ATF.

Santafianos starting working for ATF in 2015, court records say. In 2019, he started releasing records to someone connected with gun rights advocacy groups; he sent hundreds of records and communications to the guns rights activist over the next few years, court records say. The advocacy groups often made information in the records public, sometimes the day after Santafianos sent them over, court records say.

Records say on July 9, 2021, he sent information about upcoming New England-area inspections at firearms manufacturers and distributors, which was then posted on multiple YouTube channels and websites.

Santafianos’ next court date has not been set.

That particular agency should be gone. with any and every agent, current and former, put on trial for treason and sedition. Same with the IRS.

Nope, they go to trial for it as well, let them "prove" their innocence they hadn't acted bad in the past before that.

OK Clyde - I told you that I "like a good argument" - here we go...

One of the most fundamental and critical components of our legal system is that folks don't have to prove their innocence - it is incumbent on the state to prove the guilt of the guilty. The individual should never have to "prove their innocence" - no matter how much we dislike them.

Just sayin' :-)

FWIW - I am absolutely supportive of defunding / tearing down ATF as well as the vast majority of federal executive branch agencies that are the means by which the statists drive their unconstitutional expansion of the federal government for the purpose of controlling the American people and advancing their (typically, but not always, leftist) political agenda.

You know the old saying? You're innocent UNTIL proven guilty. The mere fact they work for the ATF or IRS is proof they're guilty, and the word UNTIL presumes guilt. The phrase should be "UNLESS" proven guilty, presuming innocence. If you knowingly act for an operation that deprives people of their rights, you are guilty, period.

So, anyway.
