Katie Hobbs Vetos Two School Safety Bills, Calls For Gun Control

Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs shot down two proposals aimed at improving student safety and protecting the rights of law-abiding residents on Tuesday, breaking out her veto pen and calling on the Republican-controlled legislature to start passing gun control bills instead. HB 2332 would have set up a firearms safety education program for students in grades 6-12, while SB 1331 would have allowed Arizonans with concealed carry licenses to lawfully bring their firearms on campus.
“Given the increasing concern over the safety of schools, the legislature intends that children in this state receive instruction about firearms from qualified individuals with a focus on safety rather than from popular culture and various forms of media,” the House bill’s legislative intent stated. “This instruction should not cover topics such as firearms operation, qualification or hunting but should ensure that students know how to identify the safe and unsafe handling of firearms and the appropriate response as taught by firearms safety experts in this state who are willing to volunteer their time.”

Don't blame her... blame the 1/2 of the state that voted for her... they are the problem...

Seems like a typical D move...instead of making laws to actaully solve the problem, they attack the object. I'd love for an R member of the state congress to introduce a bill that removes all firearms, from everyone including law enforcement and security, from all governemnt buildings...you know, make them true Gun Free Zones. Watch how quickly the D's object to that move.

Recall?
Refusal to stop flow of illegal drugs. SB1027 / SB 2675
Refusal to stop illegal immigration. -- Her "Open Border Policy".
Refusal to stop child abuse / slave trade as a direct result of above. SB2754
Refusal to secure and maintain the Nations border. "Defunding Border Strike Force"

And so many more ...

I'd say doubtful. My understanding is it takes a two-thirds vote in each chamber to override a veto.
They might get the tamales through, but there needs to be a much bigger majority in place. Too much blue poison in the state.

Such a terrific idea!
This should be a suggestion sent to every republican in state congress, this weekend.

Sure - I'm absolutely of the view that if poll workers cheated they should be tried and punished... If the political class protects these poll workers because it is in their interest, they should be tried and punished. No doubt. That said - these were the numbers:
AZ2022Gov - Copy.JPG
If corrupt poll workers changed ballots, or screwed with machines in polling locations in predominantly conservative areas, or whatever else is alleged to have happened - it sucks... but no one is saying that they've fabricated 1.2M ballots. The reality is that with near certainty, more than 1,000,000 Arizona citizens looked at what Hobbs was selling and said "I like that... I want that."
* They looked at the promise of the state caring for them and put more value on that than they did on having the state protecting their liberty.
* They looked at her position on handing more money to the public school districts and thought that was better than the incredible academic results that are seen in expanded school choice.
* They looked at her positions on gun control and think: "yes please - I want the state to protect me from guns..."
* They listened to the feckless personal attacks on Kari Lake and drank them in, incapable of seeing through them and focusing on the issues... It is worth noting that there were plenty on "the right" that did this too - accepting the smear campaign run by her centrist / "McCain republican" GOP primary - and either stayed home on general election day - or worse - voted for Hobbs.

So - the issue is the people of this state. If they are willing to accept corruption in the process, are willing to support those who defend this corruption, and are bought into the marxist ideology that nearly fully permeates the democrat platform (and increasingly flavors the republican platform) - they are the problem.

It's a hard fight when the collective media acting together has an agenda and aggressively pursues it. People will be buffaloed. I mean there are still a lot of Americans who think Biden is a good president.
