Re-blueing

I’m getting ready to have fun this weekend. I got an Ithaca .22 from my dad that he’s had since he was a kid. He said he’s always wanted to reblue it. Is there anyone here in az that does it? I live in Tucson.

The subject comes up every now and again and I dont recall anyone coming up with a bluing guy. Now .. you could make it a project gun and do it yourself. I did a couple of handguns with Mark Lee Express blue and loved the results but there wasn't anything "Express" about the process. Still it was fun and If my dumb a$$ can figure it out it isn't that hard but .. it is a process!

I might need to look into that. I looked up videos on how to disassemble this thing and it looks like a pain.

A lot depends on how much you wish to spend. Disassemble and reassemble yourself saves you many dollars. Hunter finish (buffed with Scotchbrite pads or similar) is probably the cheapest, and something you can do yourself. Brighter polish = more dollars. If you can take the parts in yourself and just have the company dip them, that would be the most cost effective.
I would look for commercial blueing company's in Tucson. In Phoenix, Phoenix Blueing Company is who the shops I worked at used.

If that Ithaca is the single-shot, I'm pretty sure it's got an alloy frame. Though there are folks than can anodize, I'm betting it's NOT cost-effective. Like touch-up blue, there is blackening available for aluminum. The result is quite dependent on the alloy.
