How much would you give for a '66 6" silver nickel Colt Python?
I've seen some of the prices, but I'd like to know what someone would actually pay, not what the person wants.

Use the advanced search / completed items search on gunbroker.

I've done that, hence the statement of "I've seen some of the prices". I see you didn't answer the question.paulgt2164 wrote: ↑January 29th, 2023, 6:40 pm Use the advanced search / completed items search on gunbroker.

Well, if you have seen the completed auctions, then you know what "someone" is actually paying, not what they are wanting to pay...kenpoprofessor wrote: ↑January 29th, 2023, 6:42 pmI've done that, hence the statement of "I've seen some of the prices". If I wanted to sell or trade it on those sites, I would, but I don't, but you're too stupid to figure that out.Rock Hardson wrote: ↑January 29th, 2023, 6:53 pm

I paid a stupid little amount for a 686 7 shot years ago, sold it for a nice profit, but thinking I should've waited.

Thank you so much for pointing this out I could never figure out if they had this function and always had to put a watch on a item to see what it sold for. this is really helpful for pricing things thanks.paulgt2164 wrote: ↑January 29th, 2023, 6:40 pm Use the advanced search / completed items search on gunbroker.
If it sells for that on gunbroker then that's what the market will bear for that item. a local item i have found sometimes sells for about 10% less because they dont have to pay the fees and hassels with selling remote.

This guy gets it, as does paulgt2164. We should be able to read your mind.
It would be a short story. Very short and unintelligible...

Colt Python prices are never going to go down and only go up thanks to the show the "The Walking Dead"
Hell even Colt brought back the Python brand new to capitalize on the show. I know gun hating liberals that want to buy Colt Pythons. Colt has had production quality problems with the new Pythons so the older hand built by real gunsmiths will appreciate even more.

So Twenty one 6" Colt Python in a Nickle finish were completed 11 sold and 10 didn't sell (of those ten some tried to sell them 3 times so not 10 different guns)
1964 sold for $5025 with 28 bids
1971 sold for $5050 with buy it now
1969 sold for $6001.09 with 27 bids
everything else was newer and min sale price of $2250-3399
and yes the one posted for 11k and the other posted for 29k didn't sell both special editions new in box.
You can buy a valuation at Blue Book of Gun Values

Re: How much would you give for a '66 6" silver nickel Colt Python?
I'm sure most of those high prices were mint collectors pieces. I'll play along with the game and say that I wouldn't pay more than $2500 for a nice shooter (I wouldn't buy a beater but also not in the market for a "sealed in original packaging" unit). But even then, while I'd love to own one it's not the highest priority spend right now.
So there, now we have a floor of $2500. You can probably make an easy $1k profit on top of that by dealing with the hassle from Gunbroker. I have never bought or sold anything on Gunbroker, so I get your reticence to deal with them, but this is the exact kind of item where it's just worth it to list online. Making an extra $50 on a Glock? Not worth it, IMO. Making an extra $1k+ on a Colt? Only you can put a price on your time.
