Top states for gun industry (AZ is #3)

#1

Post by Suck My Glock »

Found this interesting article ranking each state according to how much gun industry is in each state. The article doesn't go only by manufacturers, but also includes licensed dealers and importers.

https://www.mydailyrecord.com/news/nati ... c9.html#50

#1 is no surprise, TEXAS, followed by,...
#2 Florida, and....
#3 is Arizona

Supposedly, we have 407 manufacturers (not just guns like Ruger, I assume, but also stuff like Galco holsters, etc...), 276 FFLs on record, and 30 importers. However, the article notes that there are only 258,691 registered weapons (35.6 per 1K residents, #13 overall), likely not understanding that the state does not register any weapons and that those are entirely NFA weapons.

I have seen that statistic and wondered how they came to that number since Arizona does not require registration. For some reason I didn't think of NFA items. Back when conceal carry required a permit, around 20% of citizens had the permit which would have put the number of firearms much closer to 1,000,000 and that is assuming that each permit holder only owned 1 firearm.
