American Spirit Arms?

Many years ago I recall this company having a booth at the Crossroads gun show. Some liked their products while many didn't. Did they go out of business, bankrupt, etc?

IIRC they have been closed for 3 or 4 years due to legal troubles.

Yeah, right before Obama took office the first time, I had a buddy want to buy 5 receivers from them. They didn't have them that week before the election, but they were willing to take his money now and he could come pick them up in a few weeks when they were ready.

Obama won, and prices went ape schit. My buddy shows up 3 weeks later, and now they want him to pay triple what he had already paid. He threatened to cause them all kinds of trouble, so they ultimately honored the deal and let him have them.

But that is just one example of the kind of stuff they were known for pulling.

They sold me an upper without a gas tube, then threw a fit when I returned to ask for one. They ended up swapping out uppers for a complete one, but then the finish was way off from the lower. Needless to say, I never dealt with them again.

Ahh the old days of when Bob would rage at customers who had valid complaints.

I stopped by their place during one of the innumerable gun “panics” (mighta been the election of Obama). They were located in glitzy store front a half mile east of the “Snottsdale Quarter”. Frankly it was everything you’d imagine an AR manufacturing place to be in a North Scottsdale location: snooty salesman, eager gullible customers with a lotta cash, and a platoon of Range Rovers and Jaguars parked out front. Basically it was the anti-thesis of walking into the Smith Enterprises shop in Tempe.
