Alabama residents will no longer be required to hold a permit to conceal and carry a handgun in the state after Gov. Kay Ivey (R) on Thursday signed a bill effectuating the change into law.
The bill, which was passed along party lines with major Republican support and Democrat opposition, takes effect in January of next year, according to a press release from the governor's office.

The thread title is a bit misleading. It makes it sound as though 22 states have abolished the ability to carry concealed. A better way of stating it might have been to have said that these states eliminated the requirement of a CWP in order for its citizens to exercise their right to carry concealed in their own defense, or more simply put...these states have enacted "Consitutional Carry".
In any case...good for them!

Thought I saw an article recently that Indiana was adopting Constitutional Carry. I'll see if I can find it.

BUT if you're a non-resident, from another state, you'll
probably still need a permit to carry concealed there...

You really should do more research before typing things you seem to be ignorant of.
