Muzzle loading...anybody shoot front stuffers?

I'm somewhat surprised there isn't a sub-forum or at least some discussion on this subject. I like shooting blackpowder, but haven't in a while. I traded into a flintlock .45 rifle and have yet to fire it.

what part of the state are you in?

There are 2 groups that have monthly or twice-monthly shoots:
Black Powder Division at Rio Salado (usury pass east Mesa)
Cactus Cappers at Ben Avery (I17 & carefree hwy)

https://www.rsscaz.com/events you can find their sched at Rio, sunday 23 jan is the next one.
The shoot traditional only but if you show up with an inline they'll let you shoot but not for "score".
on a different weekend they also run BPCR silhouette.

here's the most recent email I got from Cactus Cappers 5-feb is the next one but looks like there is some big event up at Ben Avery starting that week! (which conflicts with Muzzleloader Javelina season!):
"Our next match/practice is Sunday, January 16th at the small bore range from sun-up till noon. The next practice is on February 5th same time and place. The big winter shoot starts with set-up day on February 6th and competition starting on the 8th. There will be a small trader's row if any of you are interested. Hope you all can make it out. "

there are a bazillion youtube vids about flintlocks, but it is nice to be with other shooters when you're learning how to work it.

shoot good!

I'm in AJ so either range is close enough. I guess I'll stop in and check it out.

I am interested in looking at that new Firestick breech loader. It looks intriguing.

Back in the 80s and early 90s, you could still order a cannon from Dixie Gun Works. A friend was in a Civil War re-enactment group and had a Dixie Gun Works cannon they used at all the events. I often dreamed of getting one as the ultimate ridiculous range toy.

Back then, you could order it with a custom bore, so he ordered his with the diameter of a common Campbell's soup can. He would save empty cans, then cast concrete in them to make projectiles.

It always tickled my redneck bone when I would get to go out with his re-enactment crew and they fired it on a live range.

Built a few muzzle loaders from kits when I was younger and fired them, it was good fun.

A soup Cannon sounds like a great time!

Always dreamed of a golf ball cannon.
Cannon based golf would be interesting.
