I try not to order stuff I can easily obtain locally, but I know others probably don't think the same way.

Actually I always think about ordering a Savage 64f when I see them cheap online but I never go through with it, as the pawn shop I do my transfers at always has them in stock for way more.

Also, I always make a point to spend more than just the $10 transfer. Always add ammo to the order, aside from last time when they were out of ammo so I bought a Morgan dollar.

Just wondering how I'm thought of by the other side of the counter.

I try to use folks who don't sell guns for a living in a regular gun store because they're generally much less expensive. Pawn shops, local guys that run a storage unit that do it for extra cash while watching the store. My last two transfers were free though, so I can't complain.

It's easy money for an FFL. If they spend more than 20 minutes on a transfer, they are doing it wrong.

Especially when you are transferring multiples at once and they want to get you for the full fee on every one.

I love when I can get something cheaper for the customer for them or send them to a cheaper place to order it in. Saving customers money so they can buy more or find exactly what they want. Way better than trying to resell.

Last customer paid panic pricing for a PTR 9KT for like 2300 from a store in Tempe back in March and still hadn't gotten it. He told me damn things are like 1600ish and I can get them in now. He had to eat money on the cancellation but still saved a ton and got his gun sooner. I'd rather hear from a customer first just so I can see what we can do but not everyone is ok with finding out they didn't get the best deal.

I'd rather be doing custom builds and training but transfers in the right way are awesome. My buddy raised his prices to slow down but Its helped me take more for those guys that will drive an extra 10 miles to save 5 bucks. The only bad part about transfers are the people expecting discounts for whatever reason they feel entitled. I'll drive your s*** over to shooters world and make you pay their fee.

I'm lucky that I deal with a home based FFL not far from my home. He used to only charge 10.00 transfers but he eventually raised it to 20.00. I use him as a destination FFL for anything I order on line which so far has been really convenient.

He also has consignment and even new sales as well.

I don't mind doing transfers. Because I am home-based though, I don't advertise as publically as I would if I had a dedicated commercial space.

I love it.
$20 for 10 minutes work.

They love it. They get $ and do t have to carry any inventory.


I love it because my FFL is Free99 and no, he won’t do that for you.

So nice not having inventory to try to offload. Expect when S&W did the buy 4 get 1. Selling the handgun and rifle with a voodoo case for $1000 otd and still making $200 a set was nice.

Lower prices to compete or don't offer transfer services. Most of the gun shops in town are ridiculous price wise.

ANyone know of any that are in the Tempe/So PHX area that don't do this?
