s*** probably with every thread turning into bickering, Its pretty absurb that some dont know how to post their thoughts and move on. I for one enjoyed the discussion of reddots. This has been an area of research for me lately so thanks for posting experiences and thoughts on the subject.

WOW
Add me to your ignore list too. I've had one interaction with you (strangely in another pistol red dot threat, you do seem to like discussing them despite not liking them) and I think set for life.

Well, except for your typos, of course...AZ1182 wrote: ↑February 1st, 2021, 11:05 amYou have a similar trait in regards to red dots on handguns: You don't like being told no.
I give an unbiased viewpoint from real world experiences that happens coincidentally to be a negative but when I do discuss, I don't speak with absolutes and only am speaking for myself only. Those that are emotionally invested in, don't like hearing because it causes dissent and feel threatened by it. I don't know why, I am not telling anyone that they shouldn't pursue it because that would be bad. Some then do act like they have to best me and act all high and mighty saying that I'm ding it wrong, yet fail miserably because they son find out that they are not my better and we're actually equal in knowledge.

He is an ass but still doesn't hold a candle to Ranger1 for entertainment value.Rock Hardson wrote: ↑February 1st, 2021, 11:01 am I don't eva want az1182 to leave. He provides ton of entertainment here.
Ranger1 didn't rely on his claim of being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he was in every drawer of the forum and started new drawers.
This poor guy hasn't mastered it yet. I'm certain he will get it one day and I look forward to the entertainment.

My son in law put one on his pistol. I have a REAL hard time finding the dot. When I do find the dot it's dead nuts on target after I sighted it in for him. Lot's of practice to get quick on target from draw I assume. Much different. Red dot on my AR is quick as open sight's. Zero adjustment or practice needed to get dot on target fast. Weird

I'm in the same boat as you. Eyes (especially with progressive lenses) don't find the front sight worth a flip. Even on my 7 3/8" barrel S&W 629.
Took me a while to learn to acquire the dot. With enough practice, I've got it. Follow on shots were always easy for me and my groups are better, especially at speed.
I'll never go back.

I had the finding issue at first too, but when you stick it in front of your face and press out, it will get easier. The skilled practitioners say the rifle dot is so easy because you're cheek is welded, and you're not able to wiggle that reference point around like a pistol.shorepatrol wrote: ↑February 1st, 2021, 7:57 pm My son in law put one on his pistol. I wouldn't want to meet with toxic, mentally insufficient, clique of angry old never has been's that are extremely hostile and add nothing to the 2A community anyways. Dollar store meat, cooked on the cheapest means of grilling on bare dirt lawns with flies everywhere, served with the cheapest wally worlds drinks in unkept houses. Hard pass. Easiest of nopes. Boring conversations where posers try to best each other or choose a person to use as their verbal punching bag that they had projected all of their complaints into.

Re: Red Dot on Handgun - Sharing Experiences
Suffice to say, a red dot, may or may not be for everyone, but if one does not make the huge effort to overcome an age old iron site addiction, well then, me thinks age for some is the indicator of uses, it took me decades to go to a scope on a rifle, but once i did, well now, ....................along with red dots, so many different schools to learn from, on acquisition and usage, mileage by all will differ,
i have as noted quite a few on carbines, and long guns in general, and a few on pistolas, my canik is a awesome shooter with a red dot, IF i do my part and get it "right"
i wouldn't let any "one" dissenter shy me away from at least making the attempt or go out with someone who has one tuned in and give it a go, change is and can be good, embracing change, makes it so much easier rather than having the "doubting thomas'' syndrome
good luck with choices

Oh I see, you can say "huge effort to overcome," but I say "massive learning curve" and
"some foreigner wants to pop a new keester in my forehead." (Heartbreak Ridge) HAHAHAHA
