Looking to go shooting in far west valley

#1

Post by AZM9 »

Grew up in Phoenix and Glendale and lived in the east valley for the last 30 years. Now live in Waddell. I’m looking for those who like to get together and go shooting in the west valley. With urban sprawl, I don’t know of any places since the area by Miller and I10 was closed down.

Hit me up and let me know if your interested.

On my soap box once again!!
Joe Foss Shooting complex is inside the Buckeye Hills Recreation Area. SR-85 south towards Gila Bend to mile marker 144. Open fri-sat-sun 0730 to 1330 hrs. 200 yard main range. 40 positions under a canopy each with a bench and stools. Target frames are provided. It was shutdown for a couple of months last year because of the woohan flu hysteria, but reopened last May. Now the kicker: a reservation is required to shoot. You can make your reservation through the Az State Rifle and Pistol Ass'n webpage - asrpa.com. Reservations are $5.00. That gets you 1 hr and 50 minutes of shooting time. We shoot 15 minutes then cease fire for however long it takes to check targets. Usualy 5-8 minutes.

Our range officers are much more friendly than Ben Avery (or so I am told)
It is closer both milage and time than Ben Avery and it is a heck of a lot nicer than shooting in the desert.

I'm done!

The site says open January thru March. Is it shut down during the summer months? Do you work there?

You say $5 for a reservation, how much is it for the full session?

Sorry, I’ve never heard of this range before.
