Thanks for the details. I'll definitely would like to pick one up.Flash wrote: ↑November 12th, 2020, 3:05 pmOkay, I shot it today and here's what I found:
1. First I shot it with open sights and shouldered. Beat the snot out of my right cheekbone as I had to press my face against the brace to get my eye low enough to use the sights. I'd say it's impractical to shoulder it and use the factory open sights and my cheek will be black and blue for a while. I plan on telling everyone Mrs. Flash beats me. Worked well just using it as a brace as intended, though.
2. Then I put on a red dot sight on a quick change mount. I used a Romeo5 type red dot and I now believe that the center of gravity was too high and it was a long lever arm putting too much force on the mount as the mount loosened too much to continue shooting. It was very accurate with the red dot and it didn't beat my cheekbone at all, just too high IMO.
So I came home took off the Romeo5 type sight, put on an RMR sight I have in stock, tightened everything up with blue loctite and I'll try it again next week. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like this a lot and the price, less than $100.00 is hard to beat.
Another thing I bought with the brace was their forward grip/spare magazine holder. I really like that thing and it worked very well. Here's a pic of it:

I'm going to try it tomorrow with the RMR and I'll post what happens.

I had the toy U.N.C.L.E. Gun kit when I was a kid. Loved it!

Re: So this is a thing!!
I have seen these sorts of things a lot lately, and still have mixed feelings. I really wish Glock would just make a cool folding stock. I can see the value as a "thing you keep in your pack when hiking" item in case you get caught out. Just not sure I wouldn't rather have the weight of a small carbine to start with.

So, I just got back from the range and I've finally got this thing the way I want it. Here's what happened.
Finally got this thing the way I want it. I had a bunch of problems, none of which were caused by Recover Tactical.
First, I decided I wanted an optic and found a Picatinny rain mount on Amazon that used a wedge of sorts that went into the rear sight dovetail on my G17. Put it in and went to the range.
The wedge loosened up after around 30 rounds. Went home, peened the wedge a bit like one does with a sight that’s a bit loose in the dovetail and reinstalled it. Went back to the range, shot around 30 rounds and the red dot loosened up. I decided it needed blue loctite, so I went home and put blue loctite on the bolts holding the red dot to the rail and went back to the range.
This time I fired 3 rounds and the sight got launched off the rail. Checked it out and a piece of the rail had sheared off. So much for Amazon picatinny rails.
At this point I got smart and ordered the picatinny rail from Recover Tactical. Installed it, took around 10 minutes or so, installed the red dot on it and went off to the range.
Perfect. Just got back and I love this thing. Got the red dot zeroed with no problems. The whole brace is light, minimalistic and functions perfectly plus it’s as accurate as I expected it to be. One hole groups at 10 yards. Next week I’ll shoot it at 20 or 25 yards and touch up the zero.
