Inner city youth gets shot with a .45 JHP (which did not expand), survives, and the doctors decide to leave it in. A year later, the bullet migrates to just under his skin on his back, so the family nurse (his aunt) removes it at home. Video was taken by the kid's father.
According to the kid's father;....
"This video is a year after he was shot. The bullet collapsed one of his lungs and nearly split his liver in half. The surgeon decided to leave the bullet (.45 Hollow point) where it was lodged since there was no exit wound. The bullet worked itself to the surface little by little when he started playing basketball again. When the bullet finally surfaced it had been a year after he had been shot. The lady in the video removing the shell is a registered nurse (and family) so we went to her house. After removal she packed the wound and provided aftercare until he was healed."

I've heard of it happening with BBs / bird shot pellets - and I guess I should not be be surprised that a bigger foreign object would do the same...

What is that tool she's using?
Seems like there would be something better.

Had some 5.56 frags in the side of my head that migrated to the surface years ago, razor caught them when I was shaving my head in the shower

A redneck would have trotted down to Harbor Freight for a set of these... A TRUE redneck would just grab the existing set from the garage...

With the (wrong) tool she was using, she may have inadvertently pushed the bullet back down under the skin. Stupid.
Re: NSFW - Removing a bullet 1 year after getting shot
Had that happen with a VERY deep palm tree spike Broke off in my forehead
4 months later it started to surface. Took 2 additional months to grow out to where I could get it out completely
The body with some objects will naturally encapsulate the foreign item and in time will force it out like this video
What a relief to get that out without major surgery
