Anyone with a 12/20 ton shop press?
Just got approved for an SBR stamp, did a cut & crown, but I need to press off a front sight gas block on my AK, and wondering if anyone near the 85233 (Gilbert) area can lend a hand before I go buy one - problem is I don’t have the room for one at the moment so I was hoping someone would allow me to use theirs - TIA

Would it just need to be as tall as the barrel is long? Would you have whatever is needed to hold the barrel?

The barrel is still in the receiver/trunnion, and has already been chopped & crowned at 8.5”XJThrottle wrote: ↑August 5th, 2022, 11:26 am Would it just need to be as tall as the barrel is long? Would you have whatever is needed to hold the barrel?
- I don’t have the brace or anything that goes with a press, and was hoping someone had them - if I need to I’d get whatever is needed for it to happen

Looks like you need a somewhat specific fixture.Az_Gunner wrote: ↑August 5th, 2022, 4:40 pmThe barrel is still in the receiver/trunnion, and has already been chopped & crowned at 8.5”XJThrottle wrote: ↑August 5th, 2022, 11:26 am Would it just need to be as tall as the barrel is long? Thanks for the info guys - I had a member reach out who lived 5 minutes away, and was able to get the block pressed off, then drilled out, and pressed back on - spent $3 at Ace Hardware for a jig to press the barrel off of the gas block - it came off very easy

The slr107ur are known to have a restrictor on the GB port not allowing the gun to cycle properly when cut from 16” to 8.5” - after cut & crown, mine ran well with a can, but wouldn’t cycle without it, even after using a booster - so I had it pressed off to allow me to drill the gas port up, allowing gas to flow properly without the can - she runs like a champ now

Yea I overlooked that you put it back on. I’m always on the hunt for parts.
I’ll Probly have to do that to my krink when I stamp it. I think I might do my 107cr first though. Debating on the next stamp, a dedicated 556 can is sounding good right now.

I just finished my 107cr recently after getting my 107ur done - picked up a 106cr a few weeks ago and my prints were received today so that’ll be next on the chopping blockMini14 wrote: ↑August 17th, 2022, 6:58 amAz_Gunner wrote: ↑August 16th, 2022, 5:38 pmThe slr107ur are known to have a restrictor on the GB port not allowing the gun to cycle properly when cut from 16” to 8.5” - after cut & crown, mine ran well with a can, but wouldn’t cycle without it, even after using a booster - so I had it pressed off to allow me to drill the gas port up, allowing gas to flow properly without the can - she runs like a champ now

Very nice I’m about to get going on my Saiga 105 conversion. Need to source a 5.5 folder set up then I’ll get it stamped and that installed.

Did your 107cr have the restrictor also?
