To change this from a rant to an actual question, how many do you need in your CCW weapon? I've always used a 1911 and have looked at a P938, P238, 911 or similar for a carry weapon. Those are all low round mag guns. How many rounds do you feel comfortable with?

So long as I have a spare mag on me, capacity isn't that big of a concern for CCW purposes. I've always believed that if you get into an actual firefight, you are physically incapable of carrying "enough" ammo, so I try not to think of it in those terms.

Many times due to limitations of my attire I drop a Kel-Tec P32 in one pocket with a spare mag in the other. It's only 15 rounds, and most likely would never use anything beyond the first mag in the pistol if needed. But I was a Boy Scout and don't like the idea of not being prepared....

I carry a Sig P220 Compact which is 6 +1 and a 10 round spare mag.

If that isn't enough, I ended up in the wrong fight, probably through my own stupidity.

never thought of my carry as a gun fighting tool, only a tool to help me extradite from the area and get to my vehicle where i do have the necessary equipment to put up resistance.
and i'm usually with one or two others who i know carry, and know they are very capable. who knows what works best, until after the event

Enough to fill the magazines. Daily enemies are just typical low end people that usually takes a couple bang or so for ordeal to be over.

Otherwise at home, 30 round mag or so will are more than plentiful.

Anytime it's more than 3 (like the first post), it usually because something bigger is involved.

I carry an H&K P2000sk (10+1) and one or two spare 10-rd mags depending on attire. As stated, handgun gets you to your primary weapon, and I have a SBR with takedown barrel that fits in a small, unnoticeable Oakley sling bag with 4 x 40-rd Magpul Pmags.

After watching the video last week of the two liquor store female clerks fighting off a thief,
they shot him 7 times.Used a .380 and a .38 special,unkown what type of ammo they used.
But the perp didn't slow down or stop as they kept filling him with lead.Capacity and size does matter.

OP, your 30 round mag opinion is well merited, for home invasion defense IMO!

Personally, I just prefer 20 round mags.

But, in a HOME DEFENSE SITUATION, I believe high capacity rifle, and pistol, mags are just simple common sense.

If it lasts longer then that, hopefully I have their firearm and ammo!!

Well as been stated by a few. Got 31 rounds in the ar, 6 rounds of 00 buck in the shotgun, 18 rounds of 9mm in the bedside gun, and 13 rounds on the other side of the table wont do then I'm fugged. Plus the little barker will give me a good warning if someone is coming.
