This is the place to post your news and reviews on anything that's firearm related (rifles, magazines, ammo, barrels, holsters, training classes, optics, etc). Please try to make the reviews as thorough as possible and include pictures, or links to pictures if possible, as well as price(s). Some syndicated content will go here as well.
And you do this based on what experience, with either weapon, or anything else for that matter?
Yup. Reload ,458 is a proprietary case. If they are available they are not cheap. 500 s&w is not under contract with the military. They are easier to get. But hey im.sure the 3 stooges will chim in soon just to argue.
HDS (Ranger1), come on. pay $2k plus for a huge A$$ AR10 and I can get the same ballistics out of a 10.5" barrel 458 that weighs 3 pounds less and is maneuverable?
That thing isn't a sniper weapon, it's not a close quarter weapon, it's damn heavy, ammo is expensive, it has no benefit over a 458, and you can't comment on how well it runs, if t all.
listen to all the Internet crap you want but this real vs advertised, and current, information is accurate. Delat6 is my witness to the testing. Along with others
I should have been more clear. I would not buy one done, i would build mine. I have $550 in each one of my 50AE ar"s. I would probably have around 765 in the AR10 build 500s&w. Just guessing might be a little less. By the way that's your opinion. Too heavy ? Maybe you need to go and workout a little. It's not a sniper rifle, you are right. It's a in town weapon. 100 yards or less. That's all I push my 50 AE. The last time I checked 458 socom brass was getting pieced out to the public because of military contracts. 500 s&w has no military contracts. So I can buy all I want. Hell I bought 3 5 gallon buckets of 50 AE brass for 6 cents each. That's cheap. Having someone that i don't believe in at all like Delta6 witness it, is like saying my 95 year old grandmother says her cooking is better than her daughters cooking. Is subjective.
So, you're OP was something with absolutely no meaning and no comment.
You're now attempting to justify, under another pseudonym, with assumptions that nobody else can reload, and you still have no reasoning behind your justification. Yet you are showing an alternative that you say you built in 50AE challenges the weapon's efficacy and the reason for its existence.
It might take him longer to completely slip up since hes only running one troll account not 5 or 6 and cant keep the lies straight. Still he seems to have it of the same stuff as ranger did and likes to brag so it wont take long.
Brag. Your telling me. You don't think it would be a good sniper's weapon? So now you are putting a certain distance to what makes a sniper. I wouldn't say those things to your average swat teams. Most in town hits are very close. Not like field hits. Let's say that weapon on a tripod in a back.in a room looking down on a bad guy 75 meters away. You guys crack me up. A bunch of know nothings
DOJ reports compiled surveying field tactical teams of 897 agencies and 219 SWAT shootings over 20 years, the weapons were:
.308 Win as the most common caliber used by snipers, occurring in 74% of the reports. Others employed have included .223 Rem, 30-06 Spfld, .270 Win, 6mm Rem, .243 Win, and 30-30 Win
Not a single pistol caliber rifles was used.
Why would someone switch to a 10# weapon in 500 S&W with ballistics like a brick and not use a 6# 7.62?
From NTOA:
SWAT teams shall be comprised of members with the training and expertise to responsibly engage in the following operations, in accordance with NTOA standards; at a minimum this shall include:
-Tactical Command
-Containment
-Emergency Action
-Deliberate Action
-Precision Long Rifle
-Recommended training weapons:
(M-l6, A-2, MP5K, 9mm, and 308 sniper rifles)
No out-of-the-ordinary calibers
I will trust what the current pros are doing, not Internet hype. Honestly if I were doing it and wanted an out-of-the-ordinary AR I would have a proven Nemo 300WM and fire a rifle cartridge from a rifle, or a cheapy AR10.

I have seen the AR is S&W 500. It seems pretty cool. Wouldn't mind having one.
Ranger1 = HDS = 17-21-23
You were wrong as HDS and still wrong now. The rifle isn't in 500SW. It is chambered in .500 Auto Max which is a rimless cartridge that takes 500 bullets. So your previous (HDS) comment about non-proprietary brass was in error.
Look I know marines have issues sometimes but it seems U are having more than normal. I have seen a 500 S&w upper for a AR. Just because you haven't doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You don't know everything and will never know enough. That's just the way it is. As far as Ranger1 or HDS goes again stop drinking the cool aid it's making you loose your mind.
