Re: Fastest.30 Cal Cartridge
Interesting headline. I'm not sure what the delineation is between "wildcat cartridge" and non - and the 220gr .30 cal bullet and the 150 gr used by Lazzaroni in their "Warbird" cartridge are different critters... but there is probably an argument to be made that the .30-378 Weatherby is not the "fastest" given that Lazzeroni claims to put a 150gr .30 cal bullet out of their barrels at a paltry 3819 FPS. I'm guessing barrel life is somewhere around 200 rounds...
Not trying to start a war - just find it interesting when writers use "this thing is the '...est'" without really researching.
They also have a 168gr .30 cal @ 3571FPS, and a 212 gr .30 cal at 3189FPS.

Also - I had just done some reading on the .338-378 weatherby as a competitor to the .338 Lapua - crazy to think of them necking that massive case down to .30 cal. Next up the .22-50 BMG - pushing a 77gr bullet out of a 40 inch barrel at 5299 FPS... LOL
