I think a wrist rocket would be faster and more accurate. Plus, you don't have to recharge it.

And 50 years ago, a digital calculator was bigger than your tablet or cellphone. In less than 20 years, they fit in your watch. Now, they can be made so tiny that you can't even use them with human hands.

True...but calculators, tablets, and cellphones are not novelty items. That GR-1 Anvil barely gets up to 200fps...and is $3,400. Novelty at best.

I'll rather have a bow and arrow over this.

The new "air" cross bows are much more lethal.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

For now, yes. I agree. I'm not excited by this particular example. But I find the prospect is intriguing. Even the Navy gave up on development of the technology for ship cannon replacement (for many reasons) because any ship armed with a rail gun would essentially need to be nuclear powered to provide the energy required in a fight,...and then overheating became an issue as well. The state of energy storage and materials available do not appear on the near horizon to solve these hurdles. But that can change.

It was only 25 years ago some science weenie invented the blue LED diode, which finaly enabled (with green, red and yellow) the creation of WHITE LED light. The entire illumination Industry and power consumption metrics have changed with that one development.

And the next applied materials science breakthrough could be tomorrow.

On a related note, I found this funny looking projectile while scrounging for brass at my favorite shooting spot last weekend (February 6), and after watching the video, realized what it was!

I got this weird, special feeling that I can't describe (non sexual) knowing I was shooting in the temple of internet gun Jesus.
