Re: Gas mask
I still have my MCU-2A/P from over 20 years ago. At that time, it was the best option available. The unitary wide view bubble lens was a HUGE improvement for visibility. I liked that I could choose which side the canister would attach,...allowing for a little bit better ability to shoulder a weapon and maybe even use some sights or optic. But the coms plug feature was the best! I need to update my gear and get an adapter so I can use my current dual-bander.
Re: Gas mask
I've been looking at getting the new m50. They r like 400 with all the bells and whistles.
Re: Gas mask
I have 2 or more of the m40. They are ok. Field of vision sucks.
Re: Gas mask
I picked up some of these. They are the mcu-2p gas mask. They are great for vision and you can change the filter around like the m40.

I think the blankets work just fine. Fart there and no one knows.
Bonus is if your pissed at the wife you can direct the off gassing tactically.

Re: Gas mask
I have one as well and still like it. It should still serve its purpose if needed. Could probably use some new filters though.

Re: Gas mask
Yes that and if you train with them , definitely get some rebuild kits for them.

Re: Gas mask
I have a few different masks, but out of the few I have my preference leans more toward my Avon S10. It's not overly bulky like some masks I have used, has a pretty decent field of vision, more comfortable for extended wear IMO (YMMV), and uses easily obtainable/cheap 40mm NATO filters... Between the S10 and the M40 I was issued in the Army, I'd go with the S10. Trying both out in CS gas, the S10 always held a better seal.
P.S. I might also add that I felt shooting (rifles) with the S10 was more comfortable than with the M40.
