Which backpack for a BOB?

Post by campinginaz »

I'm curious what you guys use as far as a backpack for your bug out bag.

I'm looking to buy a new one and I'm thinking of the following:

1. Durable because it needs to last.
2. Large because I'd like the ability to carry more rather than less.
3. Has MOLLE webbing to attach more pouches.
4. Blends in with an urban environment but also should blend well in the desert or forest.
5. Has a water bladder of 2 liters or more.

I found this video online and it has a few options that I'm going to look into.

I would decide what you want to put in it, first. That will determine the backpack size you need.

Good point, I pretty much have the stuff. I just want a different backpack. I have a GHB and I've tested it. Just want more for a BOB. I like the military backpacks and they always held up well when I served, but there might be better options and less tactical looking bags out there.

I've been through every day work backpacks trying to find cheap Amazon bags that last and it's been a losing, expensive proposal. I switched to First Tactical's Tactic line and they're awesome. Tough, heavyweight bags that are well thought out; can even add a rifle bag to it! Just expensive...

Long video but worth it. Thank you for posting it! I'm on the same page with this guy on a lot of topics but not all of them.

Anyone looking to learn more about bugging out should watch this one. I watched it in a couple of sessions while doing dishes lol. If I get time I'll try and post the main points in case some of you don't have the time to watch it.

Here is the part 2 which covers the bug out kit containers. Not sure I agree with them but it's worth looking into.

Smartest idea from that video is the bag should have wheels! I liked that!

Also, leave the cat...
