Spam as a long storage meat

Discuss being prepared for contingencies and emergencies. Oh yeah, and the coming Zombie Apocalypse, of course!

Spam is awesome stuff. My wife says its disgusting but she eats it more than she knows. It's a very useful product and can be made lots of ways. I cube it up fry it in a pan with some eggs, green chili and potatoes and it makes just about the best breakfast burro you can imagine. My dad always use to put a couple slices on some home made bread and throw it in the oven on broil with some sliced cheddar cheese right off the horn and bake until the cheese melted. Good stuff for sure. I even like to make regular sandwiches with it, mayo, mustard and a slice of pickle is hard to beat. I always keep a few cans around, the bacon flavored I think is my favorite.

My favorite is Spam and classic Kraft mac n' cheese. Brown the Spam (cubed) in a small pot, make the MnC as directed on top of it in the same pot.

The spam and ramen looks absolutely wonderful! A comfort food. Even mixing it with Mac and cheese on a cold day.

What about the low sodium version? Or is the high salt content what preserves it for a long time?

I would guess it is the salt content that preserves it a long time.
