I’m not a fan but my wife love spam. Maybe I need to try smoking it.

All I remember as a kid is spam, pork chops and cooked spinach for dinner and I couldn’t leave the table until I was done. I still don’t like fried chops it but they are bomb on the grill or smoker.

Spam is cooked and sealed, with preservatives. Not dried.

All of this is most important in any situation IMHO! Especially the evacuation of the bowels part. Stuck butt sucks!

Picked up one of these today at Big Lots.

Use by date sucks (one year), but I figure it's probably good for at least 3? Doesn't sound watery like the Bristol brand. I'll report back after I open it.

I just noted a canned ham at Aldi's today. I looked for the expiration date...it was 5 years from now! I think it was "Brookdale". I never noticed it there before, so I suspect it may be a "special purchase", or perhaps a seasonal item.

I guess I'm just getting old. I thought bombs were bad for people.

Dollar General usually has the regular cans of Bristol ham and less often the Bristol Hickory Smoke ham. Its a little more salty than their regular ham but has a stronger smoke flavor. They also sell 12 oz cans of Clover Valley roast beef with gravy. Has more gravy than I would like but definitely more quantity and quality beef than any can of Great Value beef I've ever opened for a comparable price. Big Lots has Ox & Palm corned beef which I liked and it's the only corned beef I've found locally not from Brazil (Australia) if you're concerned about the mad cow disease outbreak reported in Brazil.
