Water shortage just around the corner

Lake Mead, Lake Powell, and pretty much the rest of the Colorado man made lakes are on pace to record lows.
Damm few "news reports" that we see.
Nothing being said about trying to conserve before it is a crisis?
Going to be an interesting summer.
One report.

Climate change!
Climate change!
We're all going to die!

Ya, the climate has been changing for 4,500,000,000 years so a 20 year drought? Meh.

I don't think it's climate change. I think its all these people coming out here to the west. Building homes , swimming pools and toilets. Everyone is sucking up the water.
I saw on the news, it was suggested that water could be sent west from the Mississippi River along the interstate.
The Sierra club said they thought it was a bad idea.

I don't think its Climate Change either. They just blamed the drought on CC repeatedly in the video.

yip, phoenix is on the list, the water dept, thru water conservation programs, low flow, and getting rid of grassy area and going to desert has kept phoenix at a status quo, but since dec of last year the water usage has gone up to the point of we will stretch what we have, rates are gonna increase quite a bit,

phoenix should have started a conservation program on the residential side a long time ago to head this off.

damm golf joints can buy water credits, supposedly using reclaimed water, yeah right, its about buying it like energy credits, a freaken joke

A new well just got drilled near me, went 510 ft. for 30gpm. They could hand dig a well 100 years ago.

Carry on

The well I have hit water at 105 feet when it was dug in 1966.
In the 80's it went down to 175 feet.
In the 90's it came back up to 165 feet.
The last time I put the sounder in it was about 1 year ago and it is back up to 150 feet.
There was a previous well before this one was dug but it was never sounded.

I chose the Vid not for the climate angle but for the amounts of water the lakes are down.
Lazy on my part not to get the info from the proper agencies.
Couple we have known for ever moved up to Powell about 20 years ago.
We all used to go up once a year in the 80s and rented a houseboat, and they fell in love with it, when he retired and they moved there for good. They see it every day and wonder about the future for us city folks.

we used to own a water company out at harquhala valley, in 1980 or so, we dropped the pumps from 400 to 550 to get decent potable water, I can only imagine what they are at now, that is if the CAP hasn't taken over all the watering in area, i know they pushed back because of cost, but that was over 4 decades ago and i've lost track, do know wells in new river area have had water table drop considerably and some go dry during the summer time.
best to all who need the h20

My guess would be the GIla river as its so close, but could be wrong, suspect its irrigated in thru canals, might even be pipe line, might be interested to find out if they claim reclaimed water is used, but only if a sewer plant is near by, i don't know much about the area for sure, other than the gila itself used to fish the dickens out of it decades ago when it flowed semi regularly

Lakes, rivers, and aquifers are being drained at unprecedented levels.
Add in the sub par snow and rainfalls, and it’s clear that current population levels in almost all of the southwest are unsustainable.
We’ve been robbing the watershed for decades, and anyone that bothered to notice, did so quite a while back.

At what point do cities/states start saying "You can't build any more here. There isn't enough water."?
