Re: DO YOU KNOW YOUR FIRST AID
Independence Training puts on a monthly free Stop the Bleed class at The Tactical Medic in Mesa on the first Saturday of the month. It costs a whole $1 to reserve a seat using the Independence training website. I'd maybe wait till the whole Covid 19 thing clears over, as I'm not sure if Shawn has plans to have that many folks in the store this coming month.

This is one of those things I am trying to get done during the slow down. Anyone know of a decent online course? I know its not the same as hands on.

Re: DO YOU KNOW YOUR FIRST AID
Good Thread - I'm a 25 yr Flight RN/Medic pseudo retired now outside of Prescott. This past week I was at a steakhouse (true story) with 3 medics and a nurse. I straight up choked on a hunk of steak (pretty freaky) - couldn't have been at a better table!
Any training is better than none, basic life support / CPR/FBAO is priceless, Stop the Bleed, and anything else is worth a million bucks when the time comes. Go get trained! (and chew your food!)

As a certified emt remember if its gushing apply pressure and if it sucks seal it off. Also don't take a tourniquet off tell your ready to deal with the issue you used it to stop.

A tourniquet around the neck will solve most first aid issues.

Re: DO YOU KNOW YOUR FIRST AID
FYI, there are some qualified trainers in CPR and first aid that would create a class tailored to your needs with national certifications (usually a little bit more $).
As an emergency services paramedic and instructor in everything first responder, the biggest issue I am encountering is the cost of the books and materials.
I live part-time in the prescott area as well as north scottsdale. Be happy to help with any further guidance.

If you’re really serious most community colleges offer an EMT class. It’s one semester, and for a couple hundred dollars you’re get a good bit of information.
