good movie to think through
"Blackout"
Original title: Then There Was
2014
R
1h 28m
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3145008/?r ... flmg_act_2
Then There Was is an ensemble thriller which tells the story of four college students, an expectant couple, and a lone survival expert who are confronted by a global blackout that forces them to endure the worst of human nature as society falls apart around them.
Very well done with multiple 'ethical' issues on how to deal with them. most of the future problems could have been solved in the the first 30 minute of the movie but you know, hollywood slow to learn has to be shown.

Watched Black out last night. Turns out I had seen it before but it was worth another watch even if just to go ... WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!
It was really frustrating when the two guys at the end are hold up in the house on the lower level and they wait to be flanked before opening fire. I was screaming at the TV ... "go .. shoot them now while they are all bunched up at front SHOOT SHOOT!"
Oh and when the girl didnt shoot the guy in the attic!!
At least for the citizens of the small town the mayhem took days to coalesce. In my own experience with a large blackout it only took a couple of hours and all hell broke loose. Cars were pulling the gates off of stores and everything was being looted, they were setting fires on the streets like a scene from Somalia so that emergency vehicles, if they tried to respond, couldn't. Police presence was nil. The city was in one if its financial crisis's so the police force was small and they were overwhelmed. You were on your own.
The sound of being in the middle of it all is a trip! People were dancing in the street...buildings were set on fire, the store I worked at was set on fire .. escaping that mess on a motorcycle was like a scene from a bad post apocalypse movie. The veneer of civilization is WAY thin. The blackout only lasted 25 hours but it cost the city millions of dollars and ultimately they arrested 3000 people which was really just a drop in the bucket.

I worked on Utica Ave and every store for at least three blocks had its gates torn off and was looted.
