Cooper’s color code

I’m assuming we all know the color code.
But are we doing it wrong?, have we warped it from it’s original intent?
I’m starting a new book, recommended elsewhere in this forum, I refreshed myself on exactly what each step in the color code is.
I came across this article, that says that isn't the original intent.
Is this a widespread theory?
What do you guys think?

What does the article say the original intent was?

Its color codes of awareness what the confusion.
White. is you are obviously to your
surroundings
Yellow. Something has caught your
attention that something might
be out of place.
Orange. The thing that seemed out of
place has now caused a
potential problem.
Red. Game on . Now it's time to act.

So what's the question

I know what Cooper says is is, I'm asking the OP what other definition he has heard.

You might want to study the OODA loop. It is essentially what Cooper was trying to teach with his color code.

I'm not necessarily a Rob Pincus fan but this is a decent explanation from a self defense view:

Been onto the OODA loop for a long, long time. It's worth studying.

Look OODA is addressing moving from a defensive position to a offensive position
Coopers codes are observations which is the first O in OODA.
