O hey leaky I wouldn't worry about targets on the move just yet. When u master shooting stills then go to moving. I believe you are a long way off still so.

Um, it’s a valid question.. show me a video of on the move point shooting, I’d be more inclined to believe in its potential..

Instinctive shooting to me right now is that you have trained your motions to shoot a target at a certain height with the gun positioned at a certain area...standing still.. of course you are going to be able to hit the target if you do it enough... on the move is different.. ground changes, distance changes, breathing changes, and movement changes the way you shoot.

Point or hip shooting is NOT instinctive. Absent some unusual natural talent it takes A LOT OF PRACTICE and A LOT OF AMMO to learn to hit anything beyond body contact range. Especially when the target is not at a known distance, angle and possibly moving.

What is much more easily learned is to shoot without using the sights. Pushing the gun out in front of your face with both eyes open towards the center mass of the attacker without aligning or even really picking up the sights.

Back to my original question. Who trains in this type of shooting?

I can't tell if this just trolling or a serious conversation.

But I'll put in my two cents.

Point shooting is dumb. We've evolved past WW2 era pistol handling.

The only time I've trained unsighted shooting was with Craig Douglas of Shivworks.

I don't train intentionally that. But I can tell you that every single force on force scenarios I have done over the years I have always point shot. I can not tell you if I ever used the sights, subconsciously I probably saw them, I did get the hits.

There used to be a class taught by a 70 year old man in Chandler. He taught out at Ben Avery during the fall. He had a book and I think it was titled, the Martial Art of Shooting. He lined his pistol up to his hip and rotated his off leg. He could shoot really good. He also had a video of shooting a 12 gauge while sitting in a plastic lawn chair.
