Train to be safe

I took an online class from Brian and Shelly Hill titled Bring the Safety Rules to Life
Having taken previous zoom classes with Shelly and been a student alongside Brian in Tim Herron’s “Train for Mastery” class, I knew what I was getting into; high level, superior quality training.

As with all of their Zoom education, this is an interactive class. You will NOT be trying to stay awake while someone reads PowerPoint slides. Each rule and all the aspects are discussed at length, and there is an exercise/drill that correlates specifically to each rule. For instance, the “muzzle rule” included drawing to low ready, high ready, sul, and temple index. As I’ve come to adopt the opinion that there is “no safe direction,” there are conditions in which one of these ready positions may be less damaging, where another position wouldn’t be.

As a seasoned shooter, my goal for this class was to glean some nugget in which I could apply and spice up my own presentation of the safety rules. I got that and more… When class was over, I realized I had just completed a two-hour, information packed dry fire session. So, thanks to Brian and Shelly for guiding me through the longest dry fire session I’ve ever completed.

I think new shooters would benefit immensely from the safety rules being presented in this manner. Science is often interjected into the discussion, as your brain, vision, and biomechanics play a vital role in safety and shooting. This class is an innovative new approach to presenting Cooper’s safety rules that were standardized decades ago.

If time and money are your primary excuses that bar you from proper training, you just lost them with the number of online classes that are offered at https://www.thecompletecombatant.com/. All of their Zoom classes can be done at home in your underwear, but for that you’d need a PHLster enigma.
