Wow that must have sucked!!!!

Being florida I bet they thought he was sending guns north. Only reason they targeted the cheap stuff. Trunk bought guns in NYC go at a premium so rolling cheap guns there is a boon for someone willing to break the law and do time if caught.

1. Never let any .gov agent into your home.
2. Don't answer questions without an attorney present.

this would also make selling or transferring your firearms illegal if you made a profit, as they would be considered currency under what his letter states

this doesn't set a good precedent for gun owners

He mentioned not being legal to buy 5 guns in a week or I misunderstood. Is that a thing?

Never did it and am unlikely to but I hate arbitrary rules with arbitrary numbers.

If it's a legal item and I am legal to own it ...??

To which I would add:
3. Never let any .gov agent into your home.
4. Don't answer questions without an attorney present.

There is no such federal rule or law. You can buy as many firearms as you wish, in whatever time period.

An FFL is required to notify ATF/Local LEO of any multiple (more than 1) handgun purchase by the same person within a 5 day period (same with semi-auto rifles over 22lr if you live in a border state), but that is it.

Now, if you showed up to buy 30 Glock 19's, yeah...that's odd. But nothing illegal about it....until you get caught selling them for profit. However, the ATF has never put a hard # on it...other than to say "...the repetitive purchase of firearms for the purpose of resale for livelihood and profit without a Federal Firearms License is a violation of Federal law" (18 USC 922(a)(1)). This is what you sign your name to on a 4473.

In the instruction for the 4473, it further states, "A license is not required of a person who only makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or who sells part of his/her personal collection of firearms."

ATF agents regularly make up rules as the go along...nothing new.

I once knew a guy back in the 90's (I think it was before the multi-gun rule) that got a good deal on several S&W M-10's at a pawn shop IIRC, a short time later a couple of "the boys" showed up at his house wanting to see if he still had them-they had the S/N's... he let them wait outside while he rounded them up for the show and tell.

So if I heard this guy right,...he bought a several RG Rohm cheap-azz revolvers, and this was what the ATF found interesting. Well, yeah! Who the hell buys several of them in their lifetime, much less within a year? I owned ONE decades ago and still feel icky about it. Got rid of it rather immediately. Can't see myself ever buying another. Not even as a throw away.

Yet this guy is SURPRISED when ATF finds it suspicious?

I'd find it suspicious if ATF didn't find it suspicious.

Worst collection in the world, but to each his own. At least hes organized. I would have a hard time finding anything to show them.... Does make you think. I almost never sell anything and when i buy it its usually forever. They definitely have a dossier on many people and just wait till its time to use it.

Yup and yup. I think that we could just call it a registration at this point.

My Dad once heard that Ruger quit making the 3 screw Single Actions and that Colt was stopping production of the .22LR/.22WMR New Frontier and Peacemaker revolvers, so he went to every gun store in town and bought every one of these that they had.

He bought 27 handguns that day, then called me up and said he was waiting for the Feds to pounce on him while laughing his butt off. They never did call on him and I've got a few of those guns today.

I’m still waiting for the ATF and Eric Holder to explain a deal that went down during Obammys tenure
