New Mexico Sheriffs' Association President Tony Mace of Cibola County said the new law goes too far by potentially impounding guns before any crime is committed and that he and other sheriffs will assert their discretion over its enforcement.

“We don't work for the governor, we don't work for the Legislature,” he said. “We work for the people that elected us into office.”

I never thought I would approve of "sanctuary" cities or counties before, but maybe I'm a convert :D

She says they (the sheriffs)cannot not enforce the law .
Hmmmmm, wonder if that affects arresting and deporting Illegal immigrants if they are noticed.
Seems like she cannot not enforce that either.

I wonder how long the "temporary seizure of weapons" lasts, would it take years for someone who had their weapons taken to get them back after they proved that their ex wife was just trying to get even with them by turning in a "sworn affidavit".

This is why due process and "innocent until proven guilty" is in place, otherwise its just mob justice and we might as well just throw out all the courts and decide a persons guilt on gut feelings and rumor.

What's with her! Apparently she doesn't know what due process, innocent until proven guilty and shall not be infringed means. What next? Renaming the state to New California? Glad to see that the New Mexico Sheriff's Association told her that they work for the people that elected them and not her.
