The point was that if you look at the process to register, it looks very similar to what people do to get their CCW, but somehow that’s viewed as a good thing around here.

My CCW opens opportunities for me both in state and out of state; plus it is OPTIONAL.
NFA creates more restrictions in state and out of state; and it is MANDATORY.
To claim they are similar is very misleading and deceptive.

You’re right - there isn’t an alternative to the NFA if you want a suppressor, SBR, etc. I wanted SBRs and suppressors so I filled out the paperwork and paid the measly $200. I don’t like it anymore than any of the other taxes that I pay, including those coming down the pike to fund the wealth redistribution “stimulus” checks some of you so-called conservatives were clamoring over for a year, but that was my only option.

How is it any different than what I did for NFA stamps? I get you did it “voluntarily” but can you really not see that fact is actually a negative? Some guys really wanted SBR's so they did their paperwork, paid their fee, and waited forever to get their stamp. Pistols braces became a thing, and the stamped SBR guys were like "Well this sucks". Then the ATF talked about banning/NFA'ing braces so they rejoiced and declared "pistol braces suck anyway, and my time and money was well spent".

The point I'm taking away from this whole thing is the DOJ/ATF seems to moving towards imposing bans/restrictions based upon whatever it is they decide they can get away with, and this is a very dangerous step towards that movement. Nobody should be happy, or even okay with it.

It's just like driving. I can drive my car and choose to not drive with a license (I get it and know that driving is a privilage and not a right.) The tl;dr combat speed version is that someone vehemently didn't like that I used my freedom of choice and had exercised my due diligence on what was best for me on this matter. None of which hurt or took away from anything nor anyone.

In other words, mouth breathers with smoothed brains are being susceptible (because low emotional intelligence) and letting their ids take control of their arguments. Their superego's have lost all control of their ego's, and this has long since turned into a poo slinging fest where to them the ultimate prize is the coveted last words. To immature persons, especially the narcissistic boomer types, this is why it is very internet serious important to them. Getting that last word in makes them think that they've won to what they will perceive to their audiences.

It must be terribly exhausting with their everyday lives while trying to fit their inflated heads through doorways. Probably not as exhausting playing their mental gymnastics over checker board strategies when the game is really chess, I surmise.
