Biden's 6 "initial actions" on Gun Control 4-8-2021

Later today, President Joe Biden will officially announce what the White House released last evening: six “initial actions” to “Address the Gun Violence Public Health Epidemic”. Before you get angry at the “actions” you should be very concerned that the administration is now falling in line with the anti-gun groups assertion that gun violence is a public health issue.

Here are the six proposals:

The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns”.

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states.

The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.

The Justice Department will issue an annual report on firearms trafficking.

The President will nominate David Chipman to serve as Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Both Congress (the legislative branch) and the courts (the judicial branch) have the power to strike down executive orders

but they won't.
have they struck down ANY EO from this bumblehead yet?

Any proposed gun edicts or changes to immigration policy must certainly be a conjuring by fox news to rile up the base .. I mean

"In a last-ditch effort to woo the middle-class and united the voters under a common promise, Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden, on Tuesday said that if elected, he will be the President of the 'United States of America' and not 'Red states or Blue states'.

"I promise you this, as I am running as a proud Democrat, if you elect me I'm going to be an American President, there will be no red states or blue states just the United States of America," Biden said. "

Your not telling me he fibbed?!?!?! Right?

(you would almost think they want to lose the midterms)

Well, they've had great practice rolling back our freedoms on the basis of public health this past year. No doubt, we'll soon hear more idiotic phrases like, "If it can save only one life."

It changes nothing. Nothing he’s proposing does a damn thing. It’s all posturing to shut up the critics. No doubt both sides will use it as propaganda to ramp up fundraising efforts and separate suckers from their money.

I agree that there isn't much here that will change our lives in the immediate future, but he's moving the chess pieces on the board to set up for more attacks. While things aren't moving much, I'm not sure I would brush it off as posturing.

Hmmmm .. I dont get it?

I always read your posts. I know you like to poke, I know you like being a contraire and I enjoy it but I dont think your unintelligent.

Money is politics. There is no way an AOC would even be a thing without money. How is capitalizing on missteps perceived or otherwise in order to build a war chest a bad thing? Why are the people who have the means or have the desire to contribute .. Suckers?

While way over simplified ... there are two ways to change politics in America. The much ballyhooed civil war that wont happen or change in the political system .. however slight .. using money.

I would venture to guess that money was never more important. With so many more options for getting directly in peoples minds money is the only thing that makes a difference.

Sorry but .. if someone wants to send in their tithes to the party of choice so that they have a chance at electing people more in line with their own thinking .. well I dont think they are suckers. Dreamers maybe but not suckers.
_______
On to the gun edicts.
Dont own a brace or bumpstock or ghost gun and it is overwhelmingly likely I never will. Still .. once the chipping starts it doesn't stop. I dont know enough about the system but I am hoping since these are royal edicts and not laws each of them is challenged in the courts.

Look at how much has actually changed in the last decade plus. Then look at how much money has been taken in, on both sides, from gun law campaigns. It’s the same thing every time: one side proposes a new law/rule and uses that to ramp up their fundraising. The other side acts like it’ll be the end of the world and ramps up their fundraising. Both sides like their pockets with cash from the common man. Nothing changes. Rinse and repeat.

Perhaps but just because radical gun legislation hasn't happened in 10 years doesn't make it a non issue. You may or may not be old enough to remember but .. there is a reason I had a Ruger P89 .. a rather oversized handgun with a magazine clearly made to hold 15 rounds that was neutered to only accept 10 and not only was that in my lifetime .. it doesn't seem that long ago. It came along with an "assault weapons" ban and a host of other gun legislation that did nothing to quell a seriously violent period in America.

My issues with attacks on the 2nd are deeper than toys or the ability to forcefully change government. I am not a one issue voter or thinker and while the 2nd is up there on the list its not the only thing on a government level that concerns me.

My issue with attacks on the 2nd is the stupidity. Its smoke and mirrors. I still cant find any evidence that they do anything more than harm the rights of mostly law abiding citizens. Guess I am just tired of the nonsense and lies.

Bring back meaningful prosecution and punishments for crimes committed with and without a gun because you are insulting my intelligence by claiming to do something about gun"VIOLENCE" while banning braces and other nonsense.

I lived watching the murder rate in NYC go from 2500 a year to some where around 400. Gun legislation wasnt the reason .. it was a focus on quality of life and rabid prosecution of crimes.

Bill Clintons attack on the 2A had nothing to do with it but what is old is new again.

There is something wrong with a system and with leadership when their goal, admittedly to bump up their influencer points, goes after a guy who owns 20 guns, worked everyday to afford to buy them and has done nothing wrong his whole life but some filthy animal punches some elderly woman in the face on a city street and since bail has been removed he walks in hours. THAT is the part about proposed gun legislation that insults me.

You forgot, it's to save the children, school shootings must stop. Soccer moms and suburbanites line up with the leftists to support it.
