Night Shooting
I had a discussion with someone the other day and I was unsure how to answer his question and I'm having a difficult time finding anything on the interwebs. is it illegal to shoot at night in AZ? I have one buddy who had his guns taken from him by an officer telling him it was illegal (this was a long time ago). but when I look up regulations and laws I can't find anything stating that it is illegal. I also know that at the Big Sandy Shoot they do night fires with tracers. can anyone help answer this for us?

Re: Night Shooting
No not illegal as long as other rules are followed.

Re: Night Shooting
what rules would those be? just general gun safety rules? or are there other things that you would need to do in order to do it without getting in trouble?Crippledtrigger wrote: ↑May 29th, 2020, 10:32 am No not illegal as long as other rules are followed.

Re: Night Shooting
All the other laws about shooting off a range. Distances to roads houses, shooting from roads, open or closed land, direction etc. All other rules laws and safety procedures you follow any other time.jlfornoff wrote: ↑May 29th, 2020, 10:42 amwhat rules would those be? just general gun safety rules? or are there other things that you would need to do in order to do it without getting in trouble?Crippledtrigger wrote: ↑May 29th, 2020, 10:32 am No not illegal as long as other rules are followed.

Re: Night Shooting
I shoot at night all the time, never had an issue. I do like to have everyone paracord a chemlight to their belt in the rear, and keep one on the medbag just in case.
Re: Night Shooting
I've done it a few times. Never had a problem cept having to explain to a officer that it was better than shooting in the heat of the day.
Ran our names then told us to have fun.

Re: Night Shooting
I asked a BLM officer about it a few years ago... he said it was good to go as long as you are being safe and not disturbing anyone.
I go as far from people as possible at ANY time I'm shooting, so that is easy to comply with. I want nothing to do with people I don't know shooting near me anytime, day or night.... so I drive as far as it takes to be alone.

Re: Night Shooting
I was researching if was legal to shoot pigeons with an air gun in city limits, that came up in my search about urban pests.
https://www.azgfd.com/hunting/species/f ... r/raccoon/Hunting and Trapping History:
Both pursued with dogs as game, and trapped as a fur-bearer, the raccoon is one of only a few species in Arizona that can be legally taken with a firearm at night.

Re: Night Shooting
Until recently there were two distinct predator hunting times, Daytime and Daylong. The later being 24hrs a day.
