need recommendation for a SAA gunsmith in Tucson

Discuss work on firearms; whether that is making yours from the ground up, milling an 80%, putting together a kit, or fine tuning a trigger job.

Yes, I did.

It took two days.

The gunsmith named JOE, who does this type of work at Lawson's, only works until noon. After talking with him, which is a polite description, I came to the conclusion, I would rather do it myself, than allow someone who gets confused about simple revolver terminology.

Let it suffice to say, I don't know if I was more confused from talking with JOE, or, he was.

He definitely is NOT a confidence builder, for gunsmithing service, imo!

I find that hard to believe.
I have known Joe for years.
He does amazing work.
There is not another gunsmith in Arizona I would go to before him.
As far as working until noon , I told you that in the first post.
You have obviously never seen the work that comes out of that shop.

I would have to call BS on this.
I would be more inclined to believe you are the one that was confused.
They make some of the finest custom guns on the market and you say you won't go there because he didn't know what your terminology meant ?

One of the questions I asked JOE, was, " When you install a new barrel, how many thousandths do you set the barrel forcing cone from the cylinder chamber throats? ",... and, his reply was " THERE IS NO FORCING CONE ON THE CYLINDER ".

This is just one example of the convoluted statements I got from him,... it got so bad I had to just interrupt him with a "Thank you for your time", and hang up.

Now, I don't know how old he is, nor if he is on meds, and, I don't know how good his hearing is,... but,... I do know what I asked him, and I do know what his replies were!

Since you are talking terminology.
Shotguns have a forcing cone.
Rifles and pistols have a throat.
They are actually the same just different terminology.

Well,... you publicly call me a confused bullshitter, without facts, based on your ignorance of technological terms.

What I want to know is,...WHERE IS MY APOLOGY?

I didn't call you anything.
I just posted what I believe.
As far as your google search goes , all you did was post a link to other sites where someone like you
said something they have read on other sites and believe it to be gospel.
If you keep looking you will also find sites that agree with me.
I am not going to argue with you but as far as an apology goes , I am sorry you are confused.
As far as the bullshitter part goes , you said that not me.
So I guess I am also sorry you are a bullshitter.

With that said I am done.
You may now have the last word.

Why thanks so much, I do like having "last word".

Now,... I did not SEARCH,... I simply wrote what you see at the top of both pages linked to,...and copied/pasted both addresses here,... quite simple actually.

Those are TWO FULL pages of references to SAA FORCING CONES,... found those pages in their entirety, with no muss, no fuss,... because it is the correct term.
