CZ75b project
Just won this beauty on Gunbroker, should be a fun refinishing project..
I'm thinking either SOCOM Blue or Black on the slide and whatever shade of Grey Cerakote I have on the shelf for the frame. Replace the sights with a new set and a new set of CZ Custom aluminum grips.

Re: CZ75b project
Please post a pic of the finished gun. I have a CZ75b in stainless and am curious what a paint job might do for it. I'd probably be smarter to put a finish on one of my beaters but I've never been accused of being smart.

Re: CZ75b project
Will do..
USPS just dropped the gun off at the shop today, got it mostly torn down. Had to order new Cerakote because the stuff on the shelf that I wanted to use was no good, so the stuff is supposed to be here next week. Internally the gun is in really great shape, outside it is kind of ugly.

You know they discontinued the stainless models..might want to refinish one of your beaters instead..just saying..

No, I didn't know the stainless was discontinued. Guess I'll rethink that deal. I've got an old Bersa .380 that could use a face lift. Might as well. I never shoot it.glock holiday wrote: ↑July 3rd, 2023, 8:47 amYou know they discontinued the stainless models..might want to refinish one of your beaters instead..just saying..

Re: CZ75b project
Are you going to media blast before you apply Cerakote? Cerakote won't fill in any of the defects, and it will adhere much better to a clean, media blasted surface.

Re: CZ75b project
Stopped off at CZ Custom this morning and picked up the sights and grips. Changed my mind and decided to go all black on the frame/slide and went red on the grip panels...

Re: CZ75b project
Mind me asking what media you use for blasting these? I use aluminum oxide on steel car parts (pullies etc.) but I assume that for gun parts / machined stuff, I'm going to want to use walnut or something less harsh than aluminum oxide?muta4warrior wrote: ↑July 2nd, 2023, 10:12 pm Everything is blasted and ready for Cerakote.

I use 80 grit Aluminum Oxide, you want etching over peening so the paint can bite into the substrate.BigNate wrote: ↑July 6th, 2023, 12:51 pmMind me asking what media you use for blasting these?
