What gives with the fluted barrels? Is there some advantage or is it just for the cool factor ?

Also more rigid and dissipates heat better.. and cool also
Less weight ... yes
Sorry, I guess I shoulda added of the same weightwas21 wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2021, 9:42 amLess weight ... yes
More surface area for cooling .... yes
More rigid.... NO
Mechanically impossible to remove material and be more rigid... engineering 101.
Now ... it IS more rigid than a barrel having the same root diameter at the bottom of the flutes... but it is also heavier than the smaller diameter barrel now because “fins” have been “added”.... again... engineering 101.
Math don’t lie
PS: and of the same materialdelta6 wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2021, 11:18 amSorry, I guess I shoulda added of the same weightwas21 wrote: ↑August 3rd, 2021, 9:42 amLess weight ... yes
