This is the place to discuss shooting-related gear: LBV's, Tac, BDU's, etc...

Good Quality Camo for AZ

I want to invest in some good came for AZ hunting. Is Kuiu or Sitka worth it?

no, i have had as much luck using mismatched fatigues or flannel shirts from goodwill as i have high dollar camo... just sit still and dont make an ass of yourself and the critters dont care.

On the other hand that sitka stuff looks cool as hell

Sitka is the Shiz! I have a light pullover long sleeve and it actually is pretty warm for a thinner fabric. All the rest of my Camo gear are hand me downs from family and some cheap Redhead from Bass pro.

What Arizona environment are you trying to blend into?
Get some samples and hang them up in the area your thinking of and photograph them from different distances... then analyse the choices on your computer screen.
Unless your trying to look tacticool at the mall...

I have never worn camouflage in my life except for archery , then I wore a camouflage shirt and jeans.
When I hunt I wear the same clothes I wear every day.
I have hunted Arizona my whole life.
I have killed everything legal to kill in Arizona except Big Horn Sheep.

It just amazes me how much different camouflage clothing there is and what amazes me more is how many people buy it.
I think camouflage clothing works about the same as fishing lures.
Fishing lures catch more fishermen than fish and camouflage catches more hunters than game.

Being quiet and down wind will do more for your hunt than any camouflage will.

It's more for team identification and a little about concealment from the enemy... i mean other hunters... err i mean the game...

I am another that thinks camo is not needed for hunting.
Most animals will usually hear or smell you long before they see you.

I only wear camo when predator hunting. That being said I really like Kings, which if you watch the sales you can get really good deals on. It's really good quality stuff. I also like the Cabelas True Timber Strata stuff for lightweight early season as its a little more green to blend with Monsoon vegetation.

Just go with multi-cam. It blends in amazingly well.

It all depends on what your looking for I think. If it is concealment from game or other hunters, comfort etc. I usually wear whatever, sometimes camo, sometimes reg clothes depending on time of year and weather. I never bought into the Kuiu, Sitka stuff until my son bought me a set for Christmas and it is very comfortable and they have a lightweight pant that is very flexible and gives you great mobility for climbing and stuff but is not good for walking thru cat-claw and thick stuff. The Kuiu jackets I am sold on as they are lightweight and warmer than most coats of twice the size and weight. It comes in handy when you hike in in the cold morning then roll it up in your pack for the hike out. I usually start with it in the pack as I get hot as hell hiking in but when I sit to glass It is cold so its nice to have a small lightweight jacket in the pack.
But if I know I am going into think nasty brush it is double front Carhartts all the way to keep that s*** off me

I think A-TACS AU is great for the desert with less foliage, but less common these days. Multicam is also good as others have suggested.

Honestly we spent up and dont even use the camo we have. Do you really think the elk/deer dont know you are there? I usually go in sweats and a long sleeve od or camo shirt. Invest the extra money in a good optic.
