I have stopped taking custom orders for the most part but still take on a few projects if they sound interesting and there are a few people I try and take care of. Just became unwieldy for a guy that works by himself and hand stitches each piece.
Having said that .. I had a great time with this one! This was done for a long time forum member who has purchased from me with another interesting project about 4 yrs ago.
. Here is the story ...He is buying this for his boy who does CAS stuff. He tells me the boy loves the game series "Fallout" and while I know most of you dont have a clue what that is it is a guy who wanders around in the post apocalypse and I played most of them but couldnt finish New Vegas..
So at first I was thinking go full on steam punk but then the father showed him my site and the boy loved this one from my site

So dad gives me just two hard criteria.. he wanted the coloring to look oldish and that it needed to include the boys initials.
So I got away from steam punk in my head even though I am still dying to do something full on steam punk but I wanted to keep a tiny bit of the post apocalypse thing going.
Meh .. maybe I hit it .. maybe not .. but I wanted to blend the one above with just a touch of "Fallout"
I liked the idea of the initials in what looked like an old necklace like it had been a found object in the wasteland or his grandmother had given it to him as a child and the chain was long gone but he wanted to keep the item for good luck ... you know, for all those gun fights!
Maybe its the back of a watch that he found. Art making and decorating in the post apocalypse.
I used bronze studs on the skirt which felt kind of like rivets and steel studs on the body and I just had to get those 2 screws in there which are brass. Did some creative stuff with dyes and an airbrush and its all hand stitched up with a natural colored thread.
For those interested in such things I took a shot of the welt. I wanted to make it a reasonable fast draw so I used a double tapering welt so its got a fair amount of room at the cylinder and trigger guard. Of course all the edges are burnished.
I "think" it retained some of that fallout feel but still looks handsome and well made.
If your interested in what it looks like

True artistry. FWIW, the last link doesn't work.
