None of those coatings do a satisfactory job and stopping splash. If I had AR500 plates I'd laminate about 6 layers on Kevlar on the front to stall the splash frags. Truck bed coating is wear-resistant, not anything with ballistic qualities

Agreed on all. If you are looking to “milsim” or do Crossfit workouts with a plate carrier AR500 is the way to go. Otherwise drill and hang them for targets...

Another point for ceramics is weight.
My level IV weigh about 6 pounds each, AR500 plates are about 12 pounds each.

Not that I disagree about spelling or ceramics being lighter, But Ar500’s heaviest steel plate is only 8 lbs.

300winmag essentially point-blank, yeah, I can see spalling off of anything you are wearing.

No, the plates I looked at before deciding to spend the extra all weighed in at 12 pounds per plate.
That was for the level 4 10x12 with anti spall coating.

Yes, but their level iV has always been a ceramic plate. Although, I just double checked and if you’re looking at their level III+ Steel plate, in 11x14 not 10x12, with a build up, you get pretty close to 12lbs.
