In what condition do you carry your 1911 in?
In what condition do you carry your 1911 in?
This goes out to all those snow birds that are in AZ for the winter season. In what condition do you carry your 1911 in?
Condition 0,1,2,3 or 4. Now I'm looking for how you carry it. No condition is wrong it's just how you feel comfortable carrying it.

Why would you be asking that? It's been asked so many times over the years. Or are you trying to make up your mind.

I'm keeping the question active for new members. In my question I believe I was talking to any of the snow birds that just got onto the fourm. I don't believe your new right?

You know ... I was always a condition 1 guy and guess I still am since that is still how I carry but ... I have been giving a lot of thought to "0".
Most 1911 factory guns are coming out with a 5-6 lb trigger which is the same as say a Glock, and most other strikers. Add that the 1911 has a grip safety and "0" may not be a terrible choice.

A very large number of assaults happen very close. I do not want my off hand which might be fending off an attacker to have to reach over and rack the slide.

The manual that the Ordnance department came out with in 1912 says "Do not carry the pistol in the holster with the hammer cocked and safety lock on, except in an emergency." Meaning that it can be done.
Be aware that it's possible the safety can accidentally move to the off position when it's in a holster.

Condition 0 is not to far off from condition 1. Just once you holster your 1911 you take it off safe.428cj wrote: ↑February 26th, 2019, 6:37 pmmay not be a terrible choice Wouldn't bet the ranch on that.Boriqua wrote: ↑February 25th, 2019, 7:05 pm You know ... Re: In what condition do you carry your 1911 in?
Newer 1911's usually incorporate a firing pin block so should be drop safe so carrying that way should be at least as safe as carrying a Glock or xd. Of course the 1911 doesn't have the 80 yds of slop out front like those 2 do but most guys run out and throw money at those platforms to remove the slop.
While I am not the expert some guys here are on the 1911, the only place of potential concern is that the thumb safety blocks the sear and the grip safety only blocks trigger movement but with a firing pin block it should be moot. In the end .. It still can't fire until you pull the trigger. The way ranger 1 is doing it should be very safe.
