Interesting that both Ranger1 and 17-21-23 opt for Condition 0. I wonder if YNOTAZ also carries Condition 0, because that would be three votes right there.
I wasn't one of the three. I opt for condition 1, I've trained for that, practiced it on both primary and secondary weapon, and have a friend who would be dead if it wasn't for the thumb safety on a 1911 and his condition 1 carry. I won't argue condition 1 vs 0 since that is a matter of comfort, safety and training.

I will however say that an unloaded gun is a stick. I don't ever plan to get into a fight with a stick.

Look. I'm a old guy and all the old guys I ran around with all would do this when they carried the 1911. After shooting and loading a fresh mag put it on safe ( make it condition 1) holster the weapon and flick it off safe before your hand leaves the weapon. Now I dont pin my back strap. That was back.in the day. So even if the safty is flicked off the way I carry there still is a safty ingauged. The back strap safty is still ingauged. When I go to pull from the holster it's just that much faster to get a round on target.
