Totally agree. I AIWB my 1911 carry, and my HTC holster feels like it was second skinned over the gun and attached light. Massaged Springfield Champion Operator w X300. Slightly slimmer carry than my others, especially in a .45. Easily concealed AIWB, also is easy to keep close and perform with at OWB/4:00. However the low round count of the 1911 is absolutely to be considered when selecting for specific roles. I carry two spare mags when using this setup.

Normally I carry my Fire Star 9mm. It's old school, like me. There are times that I carry my 1911. Pluss extra mags. I always have my CCW on me and if I get stopped by the Police the first words out of my mouth are, " Officer I have a CCW and there is a concealed weapon in the truck or on my person."

I carry an STI full size in a Garret Industries silent thunder IWB. One of the most comfortable holsters I own.

Do you ever sit down? I carry a 1911 IWB, but certainly not down the back of my pants.Nativeazhunter wrote: ↑April 10th, 2020, 8:35 pm I carry a Taurus PT 1911 (full size), for several years SOB, CCW!

In winter months when a jacket or flannel shirt is necessary I can pull off carrying one of my 1911's...... in the summer, as the temps go up and clothing becomes minimal, the gun size goes down!

I wouldn't expect a 1911 would be hard to carry since it is a single stack. Is the SR1911 still considered a good option these days? (haven't researched it for a couple years)

Re: Who carries a 1911?
Yep, not hard to carry at all. Just a bit on the heavy side, and light on capacity. I carried an Officer-size 1911 in .45 for years, but eventually succumbed to the dark side and started carrying HK-flavored Tupperware in 9mm. Much lighter and twice the capacity. The advancement in 9mm SD ammo technology helped with the decision.

I recently got mine back. Still love it. 2000 rounds down her and the only failures were during the first two magazines.

I need to get moving on one of those. I have wanted one since they came out but something else on my “want list” always wins out when its time to make a purchase. I will make it happen this year if we survive COVID

I do, 3", 4", 4.25, once in awhile a 5" 9mm and 45. But really like 357sig and 10mm but to much liability to carry those rounds.
