Glad you got your Rifle issue worked out and are liking the Vortex. I really like red dots but they just look like a fuzzy ball or star with my eyes.

Back when I was first looking to get a red dot I went down to Sportsman's, now since I had Lazic done back in '08 I've had to use cheaters (magnifiers) to see up close, when I was looking at the red dot checking all the buttons and whatnot I had my cheaters on, when I looked at the dot it looked like a busted up star, not a dot.
Told sales there's something wrong with this one, they looked at it and said "looks fine to me", after a little back and forth I took my glasses off and the dot came back, magnification will distort the dot I found out.

Tenring and Tunnug the fuzzy went away for me when I finally wised up looked through it with my script glasses, I-was thinking the same thing, thought I got a lemon, try and get to the range next week and try it out to 100yds, should prove to be interesting for ancient eyes.

Today was the day, still to friggen hot out! The Vortex 100 yard test was a miserable fail, nothing on paper, I will have to invest in a magnifier for that distance, or spend 2k$ on a sniper tested insurgent slayer. So back to the fifty yard line I went, should have tried 75yds. but that was an after thought when all the ammo was spent.

Those of you following my Adams Arms upper PSA lower purchase, the Vortex is mounted on my Ruger, after firing the Adams rifle yesterday these results have me wanting to do another Adams upper and upgrade the internals on the Ruger, now I know what you all warned me about on the endless possibilities with AR platform

IMO, red-dots are suited for 50yd targets... sure some guys are effective at 100 or further but I think they tend to be 20 somethings... For us geezers, a red-dot at 100 is a ballpark shot or steel ringer only.
