Best scope for a Sig 556R?
So, way back I bought a 556R... really love it. Handles like an AR, eats any crap 762.39 you throw at it in any cheapo AK Mag. Perfect combo in my opinion.
Since it's much more accurate (for me at least) than your average run of the mill AK, what are your thoughts around optics? I've been running a couple different red dots but would like something with some magnification. I'd love to slap on an ACOG or similar but really having a hard time justifying the cost... what else should I look at?

I think the Burris MTAC scopes are pretty good for that task. Or something similar. FIgure out how the drops of the reticle match up to real world x39 distances and you're golden.
I also love the 556R...I wish Sig wouldn't have discontinued it for the new flavor of the month like they always do.

I like my 556R, don't see many around these days. I got the primary arms 1x6 with the 300 BO/7.62x39 ACSS reticle. I am happy with it, works well. When shooting steel plates it is easy to just use the correct aiming point and shot. I use it with success out to 500 yds.

Thanks guys... that PA scope looks interesting. Maybe I didn't look that hard but I wasn't finding anything with a correct BDC reticle.
Now to find one in stock somewhere...

You can't quite squeeze out that one last yard to 600, huh?Intel6 wrote: ↑April 24th, 2020, 8:06 am I like my 556R, don't see many around these days. Seriously, how's the glass on that scope? I've had some primary arms red dots - most have been good, but a couple have broken after light use. I've looked through one of their LPVO once, and was totally unimpressed with the glass. Like super dirt-cheap Tasco glass. But that's only a sample size of one.

Is that the same one you beat the crap out of several years ago?

If I had to guess, 3k or so rounds. Not as many as the Gen1, but I'm not swimming in cheap yugo 7.62 any more.
Gun has held up fine, I really don't shoot it much any more because parts are almost non existent.

Ha-Ha! I thought I was hitting the zero right next to the 9. Should have been 500, we had steel out at 500 that I shot at all the time. The glass wasn't as nice as some of the better scopes I admit but I really liked the specific BDC and since it was a lower power scope it doesn't accentuate the mediocre glass. Also, I am not paying for top notch glass so I don't expect top notch glass.Jack Dupp wrote: ↑April 24th, 2020, 10:04 amYou can't quite squeeze out that one last yard to 600, huh?Intel6 wrote: ↑April 24th, 2020, 8:06 am I like my 556R, don't see many around these days. Offhand, anyone know if Leupold or Vortex makes a version with 7.62x39 BDCs? I have a Leupold 3-9 version with the 556 BDCs (I forget the model) on an AR and it's great.

I have a Colt LE and use a Vortex 1-6 on it with offset RMR for quick CQB acquisition.

OP- What is the rifle going to be used for?
Short Answer......
You are going to have a hard time finding a BDC reticle for 7.62 x 39.
For this weapon specifically, I would go more in the direction of the desertoperator set up.
