I would like the return of higher quality scopes with less features. Something that a deplorable can afford. SWFA scopes seem to follow this logic. Are any of the newer companies?

Perhaps I'm confused, but I think Jack Dupp was referencing Ilya Koshkin, the so-called "Dark Lord of Optics," known far and wide as one of the best and most prolific optics reviewers on the web. You seem to be comparing Eugene Stoner (AR) vs Mikhail Kalashnikov (AK)? If so, I'm a solid AR guy. I'd love an AK variant, but have never found the interest deep enough to dedicate the funds towards one.

No, I know Ilya....Optic Thoughts, Optics Talk forum
My bad humor
Ilya Koshkin , he once referred to himself as a AR addict (AA (AR-addict Anonymous))
My girlfriend is also a Optics Engineering Scientist, she enjoys some of his reviews.
Mikhail Koshkin designed the T-34 tank

What are people's thoughts on the Nightforce SHV line? Could better be had at the same price?

pretty amazing the scope options, just seems to be no end to it, some are so complicated you'd need a tutor to get thru the instructions.
think i'll stick to simple and easy ones.

Might have to stop by Riton Optics and check them out. Didn't know we had a rifle optics company in Tucson.

Any info on Athlon scopes? They look interesting for the street price.
