another Reflex Sight question.
I am a total Pre-Newby on reflex sights . One of my questions is a reflex in the bright AZ sun. How does that work out ? Mostly when I see them being shot it is in controlled conditions or under shade a ranges .
Mostly looking for a walk around ,plinker , .22 sight.

I can see my RMR's fine in the sunlight. All the way back to my Propoint I could see the dot in the summer sun.

Well that sounds promising. I had visions of them fading if the sun was behind you or green being necessary or some such.

My eyes work better with green but red on a holographic or reflex sight works fine. The cheapie Sightmark I mentioned has both green and red reticles and either work well in AZ sun.

I have never had a problem with my RMR's, since they self-adjust. On my AimPoints I just set the required brightness and shoot. I do not think you would have any problem with not having a bright enough dot on any of the quality sights, even the less expensive ones.

Most of the newer reflex work fine on higher settings. I have an old Bushnell holo-sight that does wash out some in bright light, ever notice the EOTech looks just like the holo-sight except it has a shade around the glass/projector area.

The Vortex Spitfire has an etched reticle so even with a dead battery it's useful. It has red and green color options. Since it's a prism type sight it's clear even if you have astigmatism. I haven't been to Cabela's in awhile, but at one point they had a display of different sights mounted on fake guns that you could check out.

Re: another Reflex Sight question.
I have been looking at reflex sights and was wondering about the color. I had heard that the green is sometimes easier to see in the bright sun. Has that been your experience? or is there a big difference?

I had one of the cheap no name made in China ones and it would def wash out in the bright CA desert sunlight.
My two EOTechs work just fine.

Re: another Reflex Sight question.
Actually, my tritium RMR is TOO bright in the sun. I had to black out the top, as It would "bloom" on me when viewing it. Granted, some of it was due to my astigmatism, but the shading helps.
Re: another Reflex Sight question.
I have never had a issue with red and have tried no other colors, never saw a need.Desert Rat wrote: ↑August 11th, 2018, 8:41 pm I have been looking at reflex sights and was wondering about the color.
